Main Navigation
Originally, NERO began as a research project under the auspices of the Oregon Joint Graduate Schools of Engineering (OJGSE). Its purpose was the development of high speed wide-area network connectivity to further the interests of education and research in Oregon. NERO acts as the network service provider for OWEN. OWEN partners aggregate traffic from their respective members and interconnect with each other and the global internet through NERO.

  • Major bandwidth upgrades!
NERO recently increased bandwidth with both of our internet connectivity suppliers. The WilTel connection out of Eugene is a full Gigabit connection, while the Level3 connection in Portland is an OC12 circuit (621 Mbps). These changes will not only alleviate recent bandwidth bottlenecks, but will allow us room to grow as bandwidth demands continue to increase.
