To supplement the computing resources available to Darkwing users, we've built four dual processor 64-bit AMD Opteron workstations running Red Hat Linux. These are intended to play much the same role as that of our now-decommissioned cluster of Dec Unix workstations (geyser, hotspring, etc.). Home directories from Darkwing are mounted on the new Opteron cluster, as is the Darkwing /scratch directory (mounted as /darkwing-scratch). A local scratch directory (/scratch) is available for projects or storage that exceed the size of your home directory.
