Computing Center Phasing Out 9-Track Tapes

Over the past few years there have been drastic changes in tape storage technology. The big 9-track tapes that were so common just a few years ago have become obsolete. Most of these tapes have not been used in years and many are starting to deteriorate. As a result, the Computing Center has decided to phase out support and storage for 9-track tapes.

Anyone with 9-track tapes housed at the Computing Center should contact Operations (operator@oregon.uoregon.edu; 346-4382).
