The American Registry for Internet Numbers (ARIN) and the North American Network
Operators Group (NANOG) are planning their first joint meeting this fall. The
event, which is hosted by the University of Oregon and Sprint Corporation, will
be held from October 27 to November 1. (This is the second time the UO has hosted
a NANOG meeting in Eugene; the first Eugene NANOG meeting was cohosted by the
UO and Verio at the Eugene Hilton Conference Center in May 1999.)
NANOG is a forum for coordination of network operations in North America. Membership
typically comprises senior engineering staff from tier 1 and tier 2 Internet
service providers, who meet regularly to exchange technical information and
discuss ways to cooperate in implementing network service solutions. ARIN is
a nonprofit corporation that administrates the registration of Internet Protocol
(IP) numbers for North America, South America, the Caribbean, and sub-Saharan
Africa.
NANOG will meet Sunday through Tuesday; and ARIN, Wednesday through Friday.
Scheduling these meetings back-to-back will give network operators a great opportunity
to participate in ARIN policy discussions. More information about the meeting,
including registration details, will be posted later this summer at
