UO Home Page Gets Face-lift

It's official: last spring, the "O" became the standard logo for the University of Oregon.

The Oregon O will soon appear on all official stationery--everything from letterheads to shipping labels and business cards--and it will also be an important feature of UO websites.

In recent months, Computing Center web specialist Dave Ragsdale has been busy developing dozens of options for the new home page. In response to committee suggestions and feedback from various groups on campus, he has thus far produced more than 40 designs, four of which are leading contenders (see diagram below).

This diagram shows the responses from diverse groups on camus to some of the proposed home page designs. The number of "yes" votes appears after the design number and the slash (e.g., #20/50). You can see all the designs at http://www.uoregon.edu/O/ For a current summary of feedback, go to http://cc.uoregon.edu/cnews/summer2002/web_summary.html

Comments on the designs were solicited from diverse groups on campus, including Deans and Directors, the UO Senate, the Officers of Administration Association, and Departmental Computing. The final decision on the new design will be made by the UO Home Page Committee later this summer, and the new home page should be "live" by fall.
