Enron Shuts Down Fiber-optic Network
Fallout from the collapse of Enron Corporation has extended to its once-prized
fiber-optic data network. The 18,000-mile broadband network was formerly slated
to deliver video over the Internet to home subscribers through a partnership with
Blockbuster. The network was turned off for several weeks in March while contracts
to deliver broadband content were being assumed by a division of Dynegy Inc. and
Universal Access Global Holdings.
