About SAS at the UO

SAS is currently the only statistical software we offer for installation on personal computers by UO faculty, students, and staff--and it's free! SAS/PC will run on PC operating systems such as XP Professional, Windows 2000, and Millennium editions.

Please note: XP users who wish to install SAS 9.1.3 must be running XP Professional, not the XP Home edition of the Windows operating system.

Both Version 9.1.3 and 8.2 of SAS are available for checkout from the Computing Center Documents Room in 175 McKenzie. Most users should load Version 9.1.3, but depending on your operating system and a few other requirements, you may need to load Version 8.2. A license file for either Version 9.1.3 or 8.2 can be requested from http://ssil.uoregon.edu/sas/ You'll find more information about the steps necessary to load SAS at http://www.uoregon.edu/~robinh/012load.txt

All SAS 9.1.3 Hot Fixes Now Under One Roof

If you have installed SAS 9.1.3 in the past year, you should consider acquiring the hot fixes that have been released in the past few months.

All hot fixes for SAS 9.1.3 (9.1 TS1M3) are contained in Service Pack 3 (SP3), which you may download from the SAS website at http://ftp.sas.com/techsup/download/hotfix/d9_win_sbcs.html#D9H003

Note that the file size is 629.9M, and will be too large to download via dialin modem.

Installation Instructions

The Service Pack download is a self extracting executable named d9h003wn.exe. Launching the executable initiates the install wizard, which guides you through the setup process.

The fixes and enhancements that were first available in Service Packs 1 and 2 are now included in SAS Service Pack 3, so you don't need to update your computer with old files. SAS 9.1.3 hot fixes released prior to SP3 are no longer available for individual download.

After SP3 has been applied, you will see the following note in the SAS log window:

NOTE: SAS 9.1.3 Service Pack 3

Further 9.1.3 hot fixes will be available after the release of Service Pack 3, but note that SP3 is required before you can install them.

More information about Service Packs and Hot Fixes is available at http://ftp.sas.com/techsup/download/hotfix/faq.html#serv_packs
