Did you know you can watch TV-quality video on your networked Windows PC?
The UO has obtained a site license for Cisco's IP/TV product and distributes it on the 2001 PC Duckware. If you're running Windows 95/98/ME/2000/XP or NT and you're directly connected to the network (not dialing in from home over a modem), install IP/TV from Duckware and give it a try.
With IP/TV, you can view programs that are multicast by the UO's IP/TV server, as well as programs multicast from other locations via the MBONE, a network for real-time conferencing. Current programming includes live news broadcasts, computer conferences and conventions, prerecorded NASA flights, and Internet Radio. (Note that you may see announcements for unaccessible sessions.)
Downloading Information. If you don't have a Duckware CD handy, you can download IP/TV from the web. For system requirements and step-by-step IP/TV installation instructions, see http://cc.uoregon.edu/iptv/
If you need further assistance installing IP/TV or have questions regarding its use, contact the User Services and Network Applications staff at 346-1758, or send email to multicast@lists.uoregon.edu
