Acceptable Use of UO Computing Resources Reminder: Respect Online Copyrights

With increasing frequency, the UO is receiving messages from legal bodies that represent the owners of copyrighted materials. These messages typically demand immediate action in addressing detected violations, and the UO is committed to enforcing the integrity of copyrights in all media.

University of Oregon student, faculty, and staff need to be aware that popular formats like MP3s, which exchange music and other multimedia online, are like any other media, and all copyright provisions still apply to that content.

Trafficking in copyrighted material without express permission from the copyright holder is a violation of the Acceptable Use Policy and federal law, and may result in civil or criminal action or university sanctions.

Additional information on the UO's Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) can be found at http://cc.uoregon.edu/policy/
