This year, we've added a site license for SAS for Windows (PCs) to augment our continuing SAS site licenses for Solaris (Darkwing and Gladstone) and VMS (Oregon).
You'll find installation information for the Windows version at http://sas.uoregon.edu, but before you can install it you must first register at the sas.uoregon.edu website and then check out the two CDs from the Computing Center Documents Room Library (175 Grayson).
Our site license is an annual lease because the SAS Institute doesn't sell its software outright; it only leases it. Only University of Oregon faculty, staff, and students may install SAS on their computers. This includes laptops and computers located off-campus. However, users are allowed to install SAS on their PCs both at work and at home.
To install PC SAS, follow the steps outlined below:
1. Go to http://sas.uoregon.edu and open the link "Get SAS 8 installation instructions." Complete the online SAS software request form.
2. Go to the Computing Center Documents Room to check out the two SAS installation CDs (24 hour time limit).
3. Read Chapters 1 and 2 of the installation instructions on CD 1.
4. When you're finished, return the two SAS installation CDs to the Computing Center Documents Room.
Note: It may take over an hour to install the software and you'll need 700 megabytes of free disk space.
