DuckWeb Adds Two Major New Features

Web for Students and Web for Faculty enable online course registration and secure access to academic records

By Jim Bohle (jbohle@oregon.uoregon.edu)

Web for Students: Students now have the option of using DuckWeb for course registration. Web for Students provides online, web-based course registration with essentially the same capabilities and support that students have had with DuckCall since 1991. DuckCall access by phone (for such functions as registration, schedule and grade information) remains unchanged, and students can continue to use it as well.

Web for Faculty: After a successful pilot test run during spring term, another new DuckWeb module called Web for Faculty is now available to academic department staff and faculty. This module provides new services at two different access levels: a full access level, with increased support for faculty and staff who advise students; and a limited access level, with improved access to class list and term schedule information only.

Web for Faculty provides easy, secure access to student academic records, and transcripts can be organized in three different ways to assist with the advising process. Accessing, printing, and downloading class list information is considerably simpler and more efficient than via BQS and other means. For additional information on either of these new DuckWeb offerings--including questions on access to Web for Faculty-- contact Associate Registrar Brian Scholten, (scholten@oregon.uoregon.edu, 346-3195). Please direct comments, questions or problem reports to either Jim Bouse (Registrar's Office: 346-2929, jbouse@oregon.uoregon.edu) or Jim Bohle (Computing Center: 346-1706, jbohle@oregon.uoregon.edu).
